Refactor DefaultListBackground

Extract colors into their own readonly properties to make it clearer
what their purpose is, clean up the main `color` assignment by not using
nested ternaries and get rid of the extra semi-transparent rectangle by
linearly interpolating between the highlight color and normal color.
