also use preamble.py for coredump tracing

the new qml tracing in preamble.py isn't actually going to work
since it needs the running process, but it also shouldn't break
anything. so to have shared logic across all invocation types
it's better to use it for all backends even though it does nothing
particularly useful for the coredump scenarios
